I had just turned sixteen when I was recruited by the local processing plant and put to work with the other new hires.

I proved to be a hard and willing worker and was soon given a more interesting job in a different part of the facility.

To a large extent, the process is self-sustaining and self-directed. Our task is to supply raw materials, remain alert, and intervene only when necessary. We also manage sales and shipping.

Ever since the factory opened, so long ago that no one remembers when, singers and actors have been used to facilitate the process, entertaining the workers as well. (a dyer)

The process involves tightly wrapping quantities of raw materials in lengths of fabric painted with pictures and symbols and infused with herbal tinctures and aromatic oils. Depending on the exact contents and the desired end-product, the bundles are baked or boiled until they quicken, cast off their wrappings, and emerge as one kind of composite creature or another. Some live and work locally, while others go out into the wider world.

The process derives its power from its use of Science and the scientific method to gain access to a vast body of arcane knowledge from ancient times.

Another manifestation of the Process is an array of Watchers who guard the factory at night. (A night-watcher)

Composite beings produced here but living elsewhere return when they can to see old friends and show off their children. They bring great hampers of food & drink to picnic on the grounds of the factory that made them.

Over the years, those of us who spend our lives serving the process are transformed almost as drastically as any of the creatures built from scratch, and without the baking. But the change in my appearance doesn't bother me. I am glad to have become an instrument of something greater than myself and fortunate to live at a time when people appreciate, even demand, the fantastic and the singular, causing business to prosper.

This story might be regarded as a creation myth, but the fact is, the process it describes began much earlier and signifies more than most people ever realize!

It only matters to us and those like us. I love you, kiss me!

A ten-page book describing a powerful and mysterious process, how it operates and what it makes. In addition a drawing, "About The Book", made from the same materials is meant to be shown with the book.
